João Gaspar played a fundamental role to secure the property we wanted, from beginning to end. The entire process involved three different countries (we are from Spain, reside in the UK and bought a property in Portugal) and took several months of ups and downs, in the middle of an international public health emergency. However, João's professionality, substantial knowledge and patience helped us overcome every single hurdle on the way to get a fantastic house finally. He was always available to talk over the phone and was punctual in replying to our queries (and we had many). He always kept a positive attitude and was extremely polite at all times. Even after the property's purchase was finalised, he offered to help, which was highly convenient. We are tremendously grateful for all his help, and we could not recommend him enough. As an Irish couple owning a holiday home in Sao Martinho do Porto we have had wonderful experiences there during our many summer and winter holidays in the town. However as our usage was limited to a small number of weeks holiday per year we reached the difficult decision to sell our apartment. Before we contacted RE/MAX Prata we had previously had the property listed with two other local estate agents who did not manage to attract a suitable sale offer for our property. We approached RE/MAX Prata and met with Joao Gaspar in February 2020 just prior to the start of the COVID 19 pandemic and the pandemic lockdown. At our first meeting I was impressed with their knowledge and efficiency in how they would approach selling our holiday apartment. Their estimate of valuation was in line with our expectations and we left the sale process in their capable hands. As a result of the COVID 19 lockdown our expectations were lowered and we were fully prepared to wait until 2021 to recommence the sale process when some normality returned. Joao Gaspar kept in touch with us regularly and kept us informed of the market conditions and the levels of activity in the Sao Martinho do Porto area. We were notified of any interest in our property and were pleased to hear a client was interested in our apartment. The attention to detail and professional performance of João has greatly assisted in selling our apartment which received a final offer in mid July which we accepted. The process from accepting the offer to signing the legal transfer in the Notary offices on 1st September 2020 was guided at every interval by Joao who explained each step in the procedure and responded to every email immediately. I have no hesitation in recommending RE/MAX Prata and João Gaspar as excellent representative of any property sale and would also add that many of the small behind the scenes problems like missing documents and handling all utilities were carried out without any problem. Initially the 5% sales fee appeared high in comparison to Irish estate agents fees but in hindsight having seen the levels of effort put in by Joao I now understand the value given for this fee.
