The project is located in the most peaceful and beautiful stretch of Estrada Monumental, known for its width and tree-lined sidewalks.

HISTORY OF THE BUILDING

Designed by the renowned architect Carlos Ramos, winner of the Valmor Award and co-author of the Estádio do Restelo in Lisbon, the building was initially opened as a hotel under the Hilton brand in the early 1970s, later adopting the name Hotel Madeira Palácio.

The building was ingeniously designed and constructed in a Y-shape to take advantage of the best views of Funchal. The sophisticated structural design, along with a unique and exemplary landscape integration open to the sea, is evident.

The exterior areas, particularly the gardens, were designed by the most recognized Portuguese landscape architect of the 20th century, Gonçalo Ribeiro Teles. Inside, the spirit of architect Daciano da Costa, widely regarded as the most prominent Portuguese designer of the 20th century, could be felt.

Following its successful and glamorous 40-year history, the Hotel Madeira Palácio underwent various interventions that preserved the Y-shape while adding small extensions.


DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The goal and challenge of this project were to take the existing building, which resulted from previous interventions, and rehabilitate it into a modern and classy residential building.

For better identification, the building is divided into blocks. From the original hotel, we have Blocks A, B, and C.

Added to these are Block A1 (where the adjacent building already existed) and Block A2, which extend from Block A and are built at lower levels. Associated with Block B is Block B1.

According to block reference, the following are the floors per block:

- Block A – from Floor 2 to Floor 10

- Block A1 – from Floor 2 to Floor 10 (roof at the level of Floor 3)

- Block A2 – from Floor 0 to Floor 2 (roof at the level of Floor 3)

- Block B – from Floor 2 to Floor 11 (setback floor)

- Block B1 – from Floor 0 to Floor 2 (roof at the level of Floor 3)

- Block C – from Floor 3 to Floor 1

Private pools have been designed for units with larger terraces: there are about 25 pools scattered across the various blocks and floor.

There are 27 apartments with private garden areas.

All apartments have at least one private parking space, and larger apartments can have up to three parking spaces.

Similarly, all apartments have a private storage room located outside the apartment.
