Álvaro Joaquim de Melo Siza Vieira, internationally known as Álvaro Siza, was born in Matosinhos, Portugal, on June 25, 1933. He is one of the most prominent representatives of modernist architecture in Portugal. Siza developed his own architectural language, blending international modernist references with Portuguese construction traditions. 

His talent lies in reinterpreting and redesigning, combining formal complexity with apparent simplicity in his designs. His works have left a significant mark on Portuguese architectural history and influenced several generations of architects.
