Built in the first half of the 19th century in Canas de Senhorim, in the municipality of Nelas, this distinguished manor house stands as a remarkable testament to Portuguese architecture across different eras. The long and imposing façade, marked by the elegance of its classical symmetry, harmoniously combines the neoclassical style of the pediment with the neo-baroque details of the turret and the chapel, giving it a truly unique identity.

At the northern end stands the magnificent Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, commissioned by Simão Coelho do Amaral in 1699 and moved from the old manor house in the mid-19th century. Inside, the extraordinary gilded woodcarving altarpiece stands out, marking the transition from Mannerism to the Proto-Baroque style of the reign of King Pedro II, enriched by five paintings attributed to Bento Coelho da Silveira, an artistic heritage of immense historical and cultural significance.

The imposing entrance hall leads to a living space characterised by the grandeur of the drawing rooms, the authenticity of the old kitchens, the fireplaces, the granite staircases and the countless architectural details that preserve the property’s original character.

The majestic double-sided granite staircase leads to the upper floor, divided into two distinct wings. The left wing houses the more private bedrooms and ancillary rooms, whilst the right wing accommodates the spacious halls, dining rooms and the old traditional kitchens with their large chimney and smokehouse – spaces where time seems to stand still.

From the beautiful terrace, one can take in the full grandeur of the estate, the gardens and the swimming pool, in a setting of absolute serenity that is truly inspiring.

At the opposite end to the chapel stands the turret, one of the property’s most iconic features. Inside, a distinctive staircase built into the granite walls leads up to the crenellated terrace, from where the view stretches out over the Estrela and Caramulo mountains, creating an almost contemplative atmosphere.
