It belonged to the lordship of the Dukes of Aveiro, donated to Torres Novas and its term, by D. Manuel I, on May 27, 1500, to D. Jorge de Lancastre, until January 13, 1759, passing to Crown.
With the 2012/2013 administrative reform to be part of the União das Freguesia de Brogueira, Parceiros de Igreja and Alcorochel (Law nº 11-A / 2013, of 28 January).
The old parish of Nossa Senhora da Purificação de Alcorochel, at the end of Torres Novas, was the annual curator of the presentation of the beneficiaries of the collegiate of Santa Maria de Torres Novas. Its designation, which is presumed to be of Arab origin, as well as the founding of a brotherhood in 1212, attest not only to its antiquity but also to its importance in the early years of the monarchy in Portugal. The list of goods of the Confraternity of Nossa Senhora da Purificação de Alcorochel, from 1502, makes reference to the chapel of Nossa Senhora do Outeiro
