Chestnut Grove in Vinhais

Located in the northern area of the parish of Penhas Juntas, in the municipality of Vinhais — the chestnut capital — this chestnut grove spans approximately 10 hectares of chestnut trees.

This grove is composed of productive chestnut trees and a plantation of around 500 young grafted trees, aged 2–3 years, with a predominance of the Longal chestnut variety.

When it comes to chestnuts in Portugal, the mind often turns to the Trás-os-Montes region, where chestnut groves are abundant and the tradition of cultivating and harvesting chestnuts is revered.
